Teachers and 61 students of the joint school symphonic band of TWGHs Yiu Dak Chi Memorial Primary School (Yuen Long) and TWGHs Ma Kam Chan Memorial Primary School took part in the “International Youth Music Exchange Festival” of the “Mt. Fuji Kawaguchiko Music Festival” in Tokyo, Japan from 7 to 10 July 2017.
Mr. Toshio AKIYAMA, an internationally renowned musician widely known as the “Father of the Japanese Symphonic Bands”, offered his professional advice and guidance to students during their practice session. The Band gained valuable experience from performing with other bands at the Festival. Members also visited local schools, museums and other cultural and musical spots to experience the diversity of music and cultures from around the world, and came away with broadened horizons, boosted team spirits as well as strengthened self-discipline and self-management.
More overseas music exchange activities will be organised to provide more opportunities to TWGHs students to experience different cultures, expand their musical interests and also inspire and motivate them to forge their own musical paths.
