In order to enhance the awareness of and the interest in the heritage of TWGHs,
the Office organised special talks and cultural activities for the general public on a
regular basis.
The Office organised a series of public talks on “Tung Wah Archives and Hong Kong
Society” in April and June 2017 at the Assembly Hall of Tung Wah Hospital so as
to enhance the public’s understanding on the importance and value of preserving
archives. Two thematic talks on “Man Mo Temple and the Hong Kong Chinese Society”
and “The Porcelain Photos in the Assembly Hall of Tung Wah Hospital” were presented
in September 2017. In addition, a thematic talk on “Global Chinese Philanthropic
Network: The Charitable Work of Tung Wah and Chinese Associations at Home and
Overseas” presented by Dr. Joseph TING, Adjunct Professor, Department of History, The
Chinese University of Hong Kong cum Advisor of the TWGHs Records and Heritage
Committee was organised at the Auditorium of TWGHs Wong Fut Nam College in
November 2017.
To showcase the fund-raising culture of TWGHs, a thematic talk on "Donations and
the Charitable Work of Tung Wah" presented by Mr. CHENG Po Hung, Museum Expert
Adviser of Hong Kong Museum of History, and Ms. Stella SEE, Head of Records and
Heritage Office, was organised in January 2018. From February to April 2018, the Office
launched a series of weekend talks and roving exhibitions on “Tung Wah Archives
and Early Overseas Chinese” in collaboration with the Hong Kong Central Library to
demonstrate the stories of the overseas Chinese and the pivotal role of TWGHs from
the mid-19th century to the early 20th century.

辦公室致力與本地文博機構保持緊密聯繫，
除了參加由康樂及文化事務署舉辦的「2017
香港國際博物館日」及由香港檔案學會舉辦的
「2017香港國際檔案日」外，辦公室亦連續第
3年與嶺南大學歷史系合辦「東華三院歷史服
務研習計劃」，讓學生通過整理東華三院的瓷
相、碑記、牌匾及對聯資料，加深他們對香港
歷史及本院歷史建築的認識。
辦公室定期舉辦專題講座及考察活動以提高公
衆對東華三院歷史的認識及關注。
辦公室分別在2017年4月及6月於東華醫院禮堂
舉辦「檔案與香港社會」系列講座，透過3場
講座，向公眾剖析保育檔案的重要性，以及檔
案對歷史研究的價值；又於2017年9月舉辦兩
場以「文武廟與香港華人社會」及「東華醫院
禮堂瓷相面面談」為題的專題講座；並於2017
年11月在東華三院黃笏南中學演奏廳舉辦題為
「環球華人慈善網絡：東華善業與海內外華人團
體」的公眾講座，由香港中文大學歷史系客席
教授暨東華三院檔案及歷史文化委員會顧問丁
新豹博士主講。
為讓公眾認識東華三院的籌募文化對香港社會
的影響，於2018年1月在東華醫院禮堂舉辦題
為「東華三院的善款與善業」專題講座，由香
港歷史博物館專家顧問鄭寶鴻先生及史秀英檔
案及歷史文化總主任主講。於2018年2月至4月
期間與香港中央圖書館合辦「東華檔案與早期
海外華人」公眾系列講座，通過周末講座及巡
迴展覽，讓公眾認識19世紀中期至20世紀初華
人為生活而遠渡重洋的歷史故事，以及本院在
這段歷史中擔當的重要角色。
The Office endeavours to strengthen ties with its counterparts through programme
collaboration. In addition to participating in the “International Museum Day,
Hong Kong 2017” held by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the
“International Archives Day 2017” held by the Hong Kong Archives Society, the
Office also joined hands with the Department of History of Lingnan University
to launch the “Service Learning Project on the History of TWGHs” for the third
successive year to deepen university students’ knowledge of the local history and
TWGHs historic buildings through compiling information on porcelain photos,
plaques and couplets of TWGHs.
