Kick-off Ceremony of TWGHs Student Ambassador Exchange Programmes 2016: Soccer Ambassador Exchange Journey to Japan cum TWGHs Student Ambassador Tour to London
In line with TWGHs’ mission to promote all-round education, TWGHs strives to create various life experiences for students to widen their horizons. Sponsored by the “TWGHs Student All-round Development Fund”, TWGHs Soccer Ambassador Exchange Journey to Japan and TWGHs Student Ambassador Tour to London are such examples. The Kick-off Ceremony for both tours was held on 22 September 2016 at the Assembly Hall of Tung Wah Hospital with Mrs. HONG CHAN Tsui Wah, Deputy Secretary for Education, Ms. CHU Ying, Director-General, Department of International Organizations and Conferences, The Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong SAR, and Mr. SUGITA Masahiko, Director and Consul of Public Relations and Cultural Affairs, Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong, officiating.
TWGHs worked with Arsenal (HK) School to hold the “TWGHs Joint Primary Schools Soccer Programme” at its 13 primary schools with the aim of emphasising the message of good health. This year, in order of optimizing the Programme, the “TWGHs Joint Primary School Soccer Ambassador Programme” was launched by incorporating the element of moral education. Thirty-eight soccer ambassadors from TWGHs primary schools will set off for Japan in early October 2016 for a cultural exchange visit with primary schools there. They will also take part in friendly matches with their Japanese counterparts.
To celebrate the 150th birthday of Dr. SUN Yat Sen, the “TWGHs Student Ambassador Tour to
London” which will take place from 29 October to 4 November 2016 will feature the places
that Dr. Sun visited in London. The 22 student ambassadors from 18 TWGHs secondary schools will also interview local leaders and Chinese people living there, familiarizing themselves with British culture and the development of Chinese culture overseas.
