“TWGHs 140th‧Spring Awakening” Charity Dinner
Tung Wah Group of Hospitals’ annual charity dinner was held on 18 February 2011 to raise funds for Tung Wah’s development projects. To celebrate TWGHs 140th anniversary, a special theme of “Spring Awakening” was unveiled to the guests. Mr. WONG Yan Lung, SC, JP, Secretary for Justice, was present as Guest of Honour. Apart from TWGHs’ Board of Directors, guests including senior government officials, donors and celebrities also attended the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. CHANG Juo Hwa, Charles, Organizing Committee Chairman cum 1st Vice-Chairman of Tung Wah, linked likened Tung Wah’s determination to innovate and develop new services to a spring garden full of vigor and vitality. Established in 1870, TWGHs has been serving the people of Hong Kong with diversified medical, education and community services. Tung Wah will continue to develop and explore new services to help the people in need.
TWGHs also shares its spirit of philanthropy with fellow citizens in its first-ever movie “Merry-Go-Round”. The movie, which has been nominated in the Hong Kong Film Award this year in the category of “Best Cinematography” and “Best Original Film Song” and was honoured with “2010 Best Chinese Film”, further demonstrated our innovation.
The evening was enriched by various programmes, including the jewellery and watch showcases sponsored by Sotheby, VERSACE fashion show on its Spring/Summer 2011 collection,and other special spectacular singing and dancing performances. To commemorate TWGHs 140th anniversary, highlights of “Hong Kong‧Benevolent City – Tung Wah and the Growth of Chinese Community” exhibition and Tung Wah 140th Movie “Merry-Go-Round” were also shown during the dinner.
