TWGHs “Good People, Good Deeds: English Story Writing Competition” Award Presentation cum Audio Storybook Publication Launching Ceremony

With the major purpose of paying tribute to those who live up to our ideals as well as arousing students’ interest in English story writing, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals has organized the inter-school “Good People, Good Deeds”: English Story Writing Competition which award presentation ceremony was held in the Hong Kong Institute of Education on 25 April with Professor John LEE Chi-Kin, JP, the Vice President (Academic) of the Institute.

In collaboration with the Education Bureau, the Faculty of Education of the Hong Kong University and the Hong Kong Institute of Education, the response from schools and students was positive and ardent. Nearly a thousand entries have been received from around 150 participating secondary and primary schools in Hong Kong. Total nine winners of Gold, Silver and Bronze from Senior, Middle and Junior levels were chosen by a Adjudicator Panel which was composed of TWGHs and the collaborative organizations’ representatives.

With generous support from Mr. Ivan Owyang (Founder and Managing Director of TING Co. Ltd.) as sponsor and publisher, all nine award-winning stories of 2013 competition were compiled in the first publication of audio storybook with illustrators and voice talents from a diverse spectrum involved. The Launching Ceremony of this audio storybook was held on the same day, after the award presentation ceremony of the competition.

Ms. Maisy HO, the Chairman of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals extended heartfelt gratitude to the participating students at her welcoming address for their efforts in writing stories on how a person could make a difference simply by taking time to show love, appreciation and kindness to people around them, so as to promote the core values that support a harmonious society.
