幼兒教育
在2017/2018學年,本院辦有16所幼稚園,
共有學生3,775名。各幼稚園均設有半日班
及全日班,並按年級分為幼兒班、低班及高
班。本院各幼稚園已參加政府的學前教育學
券計劃,家長可向政府申請學券以取得學費
資助。各幼稚園資料見附錄E4。本院幼稚
園以「建構式學習」作為設計課程的理論
基礎,採用「繪本教學」、「主題教學」及
「活動教學」等方法,讓兒童在富啟發性的環
境下學習,培育他們的社交能力、獨立思考
能力、語文能力、數字能力、創作力及其他
範疇的智力發展。
特殊教育
在2017 / 2018學年,本院辦有兩所特殊學
校,為介乎6至18歲的輕度及中度智障學童
提供教育服務,共有學生285名。各特殊學
校資料見附錄E5。兩校均設有小學部及中
學部,開設科目有語文、數學、常識、視覺
藝術、體育、音樂、資訊與通訊科技、科技
與生活、應用設計與科技、通識教育等。
除設有一般學科外,兩校亦提供不同的個別
治療及小組訓練服務,包括言語治療、資源
教學、感覺統合治療、英語活動小組、生活
技能訓練、社會適應、職業技能訓練等。兩
校並設有宿舍,為有需要的學生提供住宿服
務,以及有關生活技能和個人發展的培訓。
學生輔導服務
本院設有學生輔導部,由教育或臨床心理
學家為學校提供直接輔導、諮詢和支援服
務,以照顧學生的不同教育需要。輔導服
務是因應學生的特殊需要提供評估、介入
及轉介服務。此外,教育科亦為學校提供
支援服務,包括協助學校制訂校本支援政
策、計劃及相關措施,以及舉辦以學生或
老師為對象的培訓活動。
發展為私立大學的5年計劃
東華學院已訂立5年計劃,期間將積極完善課
程發展、教學質素、科研能力、學生發展、
校務管治、財務和人力資源、校園設施、學
院形象和公共關係等8個範疇,致力把學院發
展成為私立大學。
課程發展邁進新里程
東華學院在學術發展上精益求精,本年度增
辦幼兒教育(榮譽)學士學位課程,課程獲
教育局及社會福利署認可,畢業生可註冊成
為合格的幼稚園教師、幼兒工作員、幼兒中
心主管及特殊幼兒工作員。
Kindergarten Education
TWGHs operated 16 kindergartens with a total pupil population of 3,775 in the
2017/2018 school year. TWGHs kindergartens offer bi-sessional and whole-day
schooling at nursery, lower kindergarten and upper kindergarten levels. All parents
may apply for the direct school fee subsidy under the Pre-primary Education
Voucher Scheme offered by the Government. Information on the kindergartens
is listed in Appendix E4. Based on the “Constructivist Learning Theory”, the
TWGHs kindergarten curriculum adopts “Picture Book Teaching”, “Thematic
Teaching” and “Project Approach” to cultivate an inspiring environment to benefit
the development of the students’ social ability, independent thinking, language
proficiency, numeracy ability, creativity and other domains of intelligence.
Special Education
TWGHs operated 2 special schools for 285 students with mild to moderate
intellectual disabilities aged from 6 to 18 in the 2017/2018 school year. Information
about the special schools is listed in Appendix E5. The 2 special schools offer
both primary and secondary education. The subjects offered include languages,
mathematics, general studies, visual arts, physical education, music, information and
communication technology, technology and living, applied design and technology,
and liberal studies. In addition to general subjects, both special schools provide
individual therapy and group-based training services, such as speech therapy,
resource teaching, sensory integrated therapy, English enrichment programmes,
life skills training, social adaption and vocational skills training, etc. The 2 special
schools also have boarding sections, which provide accommodation and training
programmes on life skills and personal development for students in need.
Student Guidance and Counselling Service
The Student Guidance and Counselling Section provides a wide range of direct
guidance, consultation and support services to cater to students with diverse
educational needs. Our educational or clinical psychologists offer assessment,
intervention and referral services according to students’ specific needs. Besides,
assistance is provided to schools for the development of school-based support
policies, programmes and related measures. Our specialists also organise training
activities for students as well as professional development programmes for teachers.
5-year Strategic Plan to Pave the Way for Upgrading to a Private
University
Tung Wah College (TWC) has established a 5-year plan to proactively enhance 8
areas, including programme development, teaching and learning quality, research
capability, student development, governance and management, finance and
human resources, campus and facilities, as well as image and external relations, in
order to develop the College into a private university.
Achievements in Programme Development
TWC has been striving to excel in its academic development. This year, the College
launched the programme of Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood
Education. Graduates are recognised by the Education Bureau and Social Welfare
Department as qualified kindergarten teachers and registered as child care workers,
child care supervisors and special child care workers.
