Good People Good Deeds: English Story Writing Competition 2016
In collaboration with the Education Bureau, the Faculty of Education of The
University of Hong Kong and The Education University of Hong Kong, TWGHs
organised the inter-school “Good People Good Deeds : English Story Writing
Competition”. The award presentation ceremony was held at the Assembly Hall of
TWGHs Li Shiu Chung Memorial Building on 8 July 2017, with Mr. LEUNG Kwok
Wing, Joe, Chief Curriculum Development Officer (NET), Education Bureau, as the
officiating guest. The Competition aimed at enhancing students’ motivation in
English writing, paying tribute to those who uphold universal moral values and
promoting them through action in life. More than 1,000 entries were received with
11 winners from local primary and secondary schools.
Hospital Authority Summer Programme
Co-organised with the Hospital Authority, the Group organised the 2-week “Hospital
Authority Summer Programme” for 17 students from 13 TWGHs secondary schools
from 24 July to 4 August 2017. The Programme comprised a series of experiential
activities including visits, training and sharing sessions, career seminars and group
presentations through which the students learnt more about public healthcare service
and got inspired to review their career aspirations.
The Resilience Building Project
The physical and mental well-being of students is as important as their academic
achievements. TWGHs is highly concerned about suicides and emotional problems
of students in recent years. Therefore, the Board has allocated special funds to
TWGHs Ho Yuk Ching Educational Psychology Service Centre for the establishment
of a professional team that provides assistance for 18 TWGHs secondary schools
by adopting the 3-tier model of the National Association of School Psychologists of
America. From September 2017, members of the team have organised identification
and educational activities for all Form 1 students and their parents and teachers.
They also offer preventive training to students with mental health issues and refer
high-risk students to counsellors so as to ensure comprehensive care and support
for students in academic, physical and mental aspects.
TWGHs Joint Secondary Schools Sports Day
TWGHs Joint Secondary Schools Sports Day was held at Hong Kong Siu Sai Wan
Sports Ground on 8 November 2017, with Mr. FOK Kai Kong, Kenneth, JP, Vice
President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China,
officiating. About 800 athletes from 18 TWGHs secondary schools participated in
the Sports Day who demonstrated utmost effort and team spirit to fight for the
champion. A total of 77 events were conducted in the 2 days and a total of 517
medals were conferred, achieving an encouraging result.
「好人好事：英文故事寫作比賽2016」
東華三院與教育局、香港大學教育學院及香港
教育大學攜手舉辦全港校際「好人好事：英
文故事寫作比賽2016」，頒獎典禮於2017年7
月8日在東華三院李兆忠紀念大樓東華禮堂進
行，邀得教育局總課程發展主任（外籍英語教
師）梁國榮先生擔任主禮嘉賓。比賽旨在增強
學生對英語寫作的興趣，表揚體現道德價值的
好人好事，推動社會關愛互助。今屆，大會共
收到超過1,000份作品，11位得獎者分別來自
本地中小學的學生。
醫院管理局暑期計劃
東華三院與醫管局攜手，於2017年7月24日至
8月4日開展為期兩星期的「醫院管理局暑期
計劃」，為17名來自13間屬下中學的學生提
供一系列體驗活動，包括參觀、培訓和分享
會、就業講座和小組報告等，以增加學生對公
眾保健服務的認識及啟發學生思考未來的就業
志向。
學生精神健康培訓計劃
學生的身心發展與學業成績同樣重要，近年學
童自殺個案及情緒問題是本院尤為關注的教育
事項，因此董事局特別撥款予東華三院何玉清
教育心理服務中心，成立專業團隊為屬下18
所中學提供協助，採用美國國家學校心理學家
協會的3段模式，於2017年9月起，為學生提
供防護式的培訓活動，包括為全體中一學生、
家長及教師提供識別及教育活動，為需要關注
精神健康的學生提供防護式培訓活動，及轉介
高危學生接受輔導，以確保學生在知識和身心
健康皆獲得完善照顧及支援。
東華三院中學聯校運動會
東華三院於11月8日假香港小西灣運動場舉行
中學聯校運動會，邀得中國香港體育協會暨奧
林匹克委員會副會長霍啟剛太平紳士蒞臨主
禮。東華三院屬下18間中學派出約800名精英
運動員參與本屆運動會，18支參賽隊伍竭盡
所能，發揮團隊精神，全力爭標。運動會共舉
行了兩天，進行77個比賽項目，產生合共517
面獎牌，成績令人鼓舞。
