Opening Ceremony of TWGHs Jockey Club Intergenerational
Art Centre
Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, “TWGHs Jockey Club
Intergenerational Art Centre” was opened with a pioneering approach featuring
art programmes and intergeneration to support the well-being of elders with
dementia and their caregivers.
The Opening Ceremony cum Art Promotion Day of the Centre was held on 10
March 2018 with Ms. PANG Kit Ling, Assistant Director (Elderly) of the Social
Welfare Department, Mr. Horace LIT, Senior Charities Manager of The Hong Kong
Jockey Club Charities Trust and Dr. LEE Yuk Lun, JP, the Chairman, officiating.
The Art Promotion Day included a variety of activities such as intergenerational
performances, artwork booths and an exhibition of artworks from elders with
dementia and youths, attracting numerous participants from collaborative partners
as well as tertiary, secondary and primary students and other members of the
general public.
Music with Movement Intervention for Dementia Patients
The TWGHs Elderly Services Section
invited the Centre on Behavioural
Health of The University of Hong
Kong to design the music with
movement intervention for elders
with dementia. Integrated with
local music and simple tailor-
made body movements, the
group intervention provided
multiple stimulations with an aim
at improving mood and agitated
behaviour of the elderly. It was one
of thewinners of the Best Dementia
Care at the “5th Asia Pacific
Eldercare Innovation Awards”.
Promoting “Physical and Mental Revitalisation Therapy”
to Rehabilitation Services
To improve the cognitive abilities of the aged blind and users with intellectual
disabilities, TWGHs promoted the “Physical and Mental Revitalisation Therapy”,
which was applied widely in its Elderly Services Section, to the Rehabilitation
Services Section of the Group in 2017. A total of 22 staff members from the Section
completed a training course for beginners organised by Mr. Ogawa Shinsei, the
founder of the Physical and Mental Revitalisation Therapy. A total of 77 therapeutic
training sessions were organised, benefitting 655 service users.
50 and Beyond- Pioneer Service in Residential Service for
Elderly People with Intellectual Disabilities

community’s rising concerns about elderly people with intellectual disabilities.
It launched the first facility of its kind in Hong Kong, a home for mentally-
handicapped elders. To share this new service model with the industry and the
general public, a seminar cum open day was held on 7 July 2017 at TWGHs Jockey
Club Rehabilitation Complex and TWGHs Jockey Club Tsin Chueng Day Activity
Centre cum Hostel, was also opened to visitors. Mr. David LEUNG, JP, Commissioner
