Arts in Home

TWGHs Jockey Club Sunshine Complex for the Elderly aims at promoting

and developing the talent of our elders through art. An in-house art training

programme, “Postcards between Colleagues”, for staff members was organised

to raise their knowledge and interest in craftsmanship. Art groups for elders on

cement pot plants and preserved flowers were established to connect art with

floral arrangement. A 2-month workshop on “Yi Jin exercise”, an integration of

sports, music and performing art, starting on 23 October 2017 was also organised

for TWGHs elders and their families to help develop a healthy lifestyle as well as

improve concentration and balance.

To promote the “Arts in Home” programme, seminars were held in Lingnan

University and Hong Kong Baptist University to share the concept of artistic living

with college students. TWGHs seniors’ artworks were transformed into a 2018

desk calendar and tote bags to further promote the concept to the general public.

Opening Ceremony of TWGHs Stephen Yow Mok Shing

Neighbourhood Elderly Centre

Opening Ceremony of TWGHs Stephen Yow Mok Shing Neighbourhood Elderly

Centre was held on 22 February 2018, with Ms. YIP Man Kuen, Carol, JP, Director of

Social Welfare, officiating. Board Members and guests also attended the Ceremony.

Mrs. YOW CHENG Chiu Ping, Pamela has donated 5 million in support of the

Group’s development on elderly services by providing better facilities and high

quality service, and to encourage elders to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

TWGHs Tenancy Management for Senior-owner Occupiers

TWGHs first piloted the Tenancy Management for Senior-owner Occupiers to

help the elderly finance their long-term care expenses by releasing the potential

values of their own property following their admission to a nursing home. The

Project aims at assisting the elderly to renovate and rent out their own property

to generate monthly rental incomes to support their long-term care and late life

expenses. TWGHs also joined hands with Hong Kong Baptist University to conduct

a social study on “Senior Citizens’ Need for Public Trusts in Hong Kong” and

community talks to arouse public awareness of Public Trusts and the Enduring

Power of Attorney, while encouraging the elderly to plan ahead for later life.

Enlisting New Recruits to Support Elderly Care

TWGHs was selected as one of the operators to implement the “Navigation Scheme

for Young Persons in Care Services” subvented by the Social Welfare Department.

The Scheme aims at offering career learning and on-the-job training in the care

industry for not less than 200 youths aged between 18 and 25 in 3 years. TWGHs

also launched the Tung Pak Healthcare Professional Referring Service to train

and maintain a stable supply of part-time care workers to support the Group's

residential and community services.
